LAVA Collective (London Audio / Visual Art Collective) invites artists from all over the world to participate in visual art and music projects. Since forming in 2009, they have staged a series of pop up shows in East London, mostly in former warehouse spaces such as The Rag Factory and The Truman Brewery.
Past shows have featured work by internationally - acclaimed urban artists such as Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Neck Face, Faile and Bruno 9li. However, the real focus of LAVA is to showcase emerging talent, both from the UK and overseas, artists such as Talita Hoffmann, Peru Ana Ana Peru, Ales ‘Bask’ Hostomsky, Jo Peel and Stik.
To coincide with the opening of each show, LAVA throw after parties in intimate clubs and bars like Gramaphone and The Star of Bethnal Green. Previous guest DJs and performers include Edan, Loefah, Mala, Kryptic Minds, Sgt. Pokes, Jehst, Instra:mental and Benny Ill.
At the end of 2010, LAVA ventured to the West End to open their first permanent art space - LAVA Gallery. For 2011 they are planning a series of pop up shows in Soho and the surrounding area.
