Party people -
Our next event is taking place 2 weeks tomorrow. Regular readers will know all about Ricky Powell – Well we’re excited to announce that he’s coming to the UK as part of Edan’s Echo Party Tour. We only found out about the tour last week – short notice is an understatement – but we decided the opportunity was too good to miss so we’re hosting the event anyway.
It’s gonna take place at Gramaphone on Thursday December 10th – details can be found in the events section of the website. Ricky is a really cool guy and by all accounts his slideshow is god damn hilarious. He tells stories about his experiences partying with the hip hop aristocracy in 1980′s New York, I’m talking Run DMC, Beastie Boys, KRS ONE and so on.
Edan has been off the radar for a while but he is back with a new record - titled Echo Party – and it sounds fresh. He is weighting in with a 2 hour set, and we’re also screening the Echo Party video, directed by Tom Fitzgerald.
Representing the UK we’ve got Jehst performing live, and a DJ set from Kris Jones (Soul Jazz) as well as our very own LAVA DJs.
My advice: get there early! Entrance is only £5 before 9pm, plus we’ll be giving away T shirts, art books and CDs during the early stages. See you down there…
